WANG APPOINTS TWO EXECUTIVES TO KEY OPERATIONS POSTS

 LOWELL, Mass., Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Wang Laboratories, Inc. (AMEX: QWAN.B, QWAN.C), announced today that William P. Ferry has been named senior vice president and general manager of North American operations, and Harold S. Fischer has been named vice president and general manager of South Pacific and Latin American operations. Ferry and Fischer report directly to Joseph M. Tucci, president and chief executive officer of Wang.
 Both operations will focus on providing integrated office and image-based solutions on open systems platforms to improve customers' office productivity. They will concentrate on the company's network integration services and integrated office and imaging software technology.

 Ferry will lead a consolidated operations group, comprising the sales, professional and maintenance services, marketing, and Wang Express operations of Canada and the United States, excluding the Federal Systems Division, which will remain a separate business unit.
 Ferry joined Wang Laboratories in August 1990 as senior vice president, applications. Since that time, he has played an important role in the strategy development process and management of operations. Ferry was responsible for the development of the company's critical systems integration and professional services strategy and businesses. He has been on assignment as general manager of Europe for the last six months, directing the company's reorganization efforts in this important area of the business.
 Before joining Wang, Ferry had been vice president, enterprise integrations services for Digital Equipment Corporation, during which time he established the company's entry into the systems integration business. In this position, he was responsible for professional software services, customer hardware, customer training and systems integration in the United States, a nearly billion dollar business with 6,500 employees.
 Ferry received his A.B. from Harvard University and his M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College.
 In his new role as vice president and general manager of South Pacific and Latin American operations, Fischer will be responsible for the sales, professional and maintenance services, and marketing operations of Australia, New Zealand, and all of Latin America.
 Fischer joined the company as vice president, major international accounts in December 1990, and was responsible for the coordination of account teams, development of worldwide plans for designated international accounts, and remarketing and alternate channel strategies. In his most recent role, Fischer was vice president and general manager of U.S. Commercial operations, responsible for sales and service for the company's largest U.S. customers.
 Before joining the company, Fischer was most recently president, Commercial Systems Division of the Unisys Corporation, a position he was appointed to in 1988. He was responsible for the sale of Unisys computer systems and services to the U.S. commercial marketplace, a $1.1 billion business.
 Fischer began his career with Remington Rand Univac as a sales representative in 1960. After holding increasingly responsible positions in sales and management, he was named vice president and general manager of Mid-Atlantic operations in 1982. He was appointed vice president and general manager of Canadian operations in 1983 and vice president of worldwide marketing in 1986.
 Fischer graduated from Franklin and Marshall College with a bachelor of arts degree.
