WALTER Q. HOWARD APPOINTED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT
AND CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER OF J. MAKOWSKI COMPANY
BOSTON, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- J. Makowski Company, Inc. (JMC), a Boston based energy firm, announced today the appointment of Walter Q. Howard as senior vice president and chief financial officer.
Howard will be responsible for corporate and project financing activities and will pursue new acquisition opportunities on behalf of the company. Prior to joining JMC, Howard held the position of senior vice president of project financing for General Electric Capital, managing groups responsible for energy and industrial investments. Prior to that, Howard was the manager of business development with the General Electric Corporate Executive office. He also worked in the electric utility and construction industries as an engineer and contracts manager. Howard holds a B.S. and M.E. degree from Cornell University in engineering and an M.B.A. from Harvard University.
Carlos Riva, president of JMC, said "Walt brings important expertise and contacts in the cogeneration and financing fields which will enhance JMC's strong base in project and corporate finance circles, as well as focus the company's efforts on the acquisition front." Jacek Makowski, JMC's chairman observed that "we worked closely with Walt in developing our first cogeneration project in the mid-eighties and are pleased that he has joined us at this stage in our growth." Howard remarked that "the strong regional successes of JMC, working in conjunction with excellent partners, positions us to replicate these successes nationwide and in carefully selected international markets. Additionally, JMC's strength and growth allows us to consider acquisition of development companies to obtain both projects and talented personnel."
JMC is a developer of cogeneration and independent power projects and has successfully obtained $1.5 billion in project financing in the past years. JMC also manages the purchase, transportation and storage of natural gas supplies for its own operations and on behalf of numerous Northeast gas utilities.
