(NASDAQ: WPIC), a world leader in the design and manufacture of electronic ballasts (power supplies) for metal halide arc lamps used in medical endoscopes, today announced it has expanded its product line to include electronic ballasts for xenon arc lamps. The company recently completed developmental work on its new 150 watt and 300 watt xenon ballasts.
The ballasts will typically be used in providing high-performance lighting that is required in state-of-the-art, minimally invasive surgery. "We have received a significant number of inquiries regarding xenon-based endoscopic products. The development of these two new ballasts directly responds to these needs. The addition of these ballasts to our product line will also serve to complement and bolster the significant presence that we already have in the endoscopic lighting area." The 300 watt ballast will be commercially available in July while the 150 watt ballast will be available in August 1992. Walker Power designs, manufactures and markets power conversion components and complete power systems.
