WALES: We want Urdd in Flint say council.
The town council has invited Urdd Gobaith Cymru to hold the event there.
The earliest date will be 2014, to allow time for securing a site, organising and fundraising.
Mold hosted the Urdd in May, 1984, when tens of thousands from all over Wales enjoyed the six-day cultural festival.
Councilor Alex Aldridge, the instigator of the Welsh Local Government Association's agreement to secure the National Eisteddfod's future, started the ball rolling with Urdd 18 months ago.
At a recent town council meeting, Cllr Aldridge said: "The Urdd is a premier event designed to promote the Welsh language. It's an opportunity we should, and must, embrace."
Flint Town Council leader Ian Roberts added: "The Urdd have spoken to their committees in North Wales.
"Flint Maelor branch is supporting our invitation."
