WALES: RSPCA in appeal for very special new home for dog.

Byline: By ERYL CRUMP

DOG lovers are wanted to give a 16-month-old dog a special new home.

Lira, a Mastiff cross, is being cared for by the RSPCA because her owner was moving home and could no longer look after her.

Centre manager Becky King said Lira was a "gorgeous" dog with a "great temperament and personality."

Becky said: "Lira has a basic level of obedience, is very trainable, and would benefit from further training. She gets on well with other dogs, and would suit a home that has experience of large dogs and a home with children over 10 years of age.

"She is looking for a very special home as although she is a loving, wonderful dog, she has had some lameness in her elbow.

As a result of this and because she is a large breed dog, in the future she may be prone to arthritis or similar joint conditions which may require ongoing medication.

"She needs controlled exercise, perhaps a home with a large garden or where there is a park nearby where she can be exercised on the lead."

Anyone should contact the RSPCA Bryn Y Maen Animal Centre on 0870 010 1845.
