WALES: RNLI raft race plea.

CALLING all rafters!

Lifeboat fund-raisers want daredevils to take part in the 2009 Whitewater Rafting Experience in Bala on July 5.

Teams of between four and seven people are wanted to enter the event which raised pounds 25,000 for the RNLI last year.

The rafts are skippered by professional instructors from the Whitewater Rafting Centre. Teams get three timed sessions down the rapids and the fastest wins.

RNLI spoke woman Tams in Davies said: "This is an unique opportunity to go whitewater rafting while raising money for a good cause."
