WALES: Paralympian forced to miss awards.

ILLNESS prevented a paralympic champion from presenting awards to swimmers on Monday.

Caernarfon Swimming Club had hoped 11-time gold Paralympian swimmer David Roberts could travel from his Pontypridd home to the ceremony, but he had to stay at home with suspected glandular fever.

In a special message to the young swimmers he said: "I am genuinely very upset I cannot make it. I have let down many children, and I am very sorry for this."

Actress Llio Non from TV series Rownd a Rownd stepped in at short notice to present the awards.
