WALES: Morgan now lame duck, say Tories.

TORY Assembly leader Nick Bourne will claim first minister Rhodri Morgan has "lost his golden touch" and is a lame duck leader.

Mr Bourne will tell the Welsh Conservative conference tomorrow Mr Morgan now leads a tired administration.

The party will meet in Llandudno this weekend seeking to capitalise on the boost provided by new leader David Cameron who will address the gathering on Sunday.

Mr Bourne will highlight a series of Assembly defeats for Labour's minority administration.

It was a Conservative motion which led to the abolition of top-up fees for Welsh students at Welsh universities.

Labour was also forced to accept the principle of NHS walk-in centres in Wales thanks to the Welsh Conservatives, he will say.

"Rhodri Morgan's leadership has been one unfulfilled promise. Like Blair he has lost his golden touch. Lame duck leaders in Westminster and in Wales."
