WALES: Health centre gets the go-ahead.

LONG-AWAITED plans for a multi-million pound health centre on Deeside have finally been given the go-ahead.

Welsh Assembly health minister Edwina Hart has given her official backing to the plans.

The centre, which will include doctors' surgeries and primary health care services under one roof, will be built in Fron Road, Connah's Quay, near the Labour Club.

Alyn and Deeside AM, Carl Sargeant, said the announcement was wonderful news for the area.

"Improving primary health care facilities in the constituency was one of my manifesto commitments," he said.

"I'm delighted the Minister has approved this scheme, which will cost between pounds 3-4m. I'msure everyone will welcome the minister's announcement."

Connah's Quay county councillor Bernie Attridge said: "This announcement is wonderful news for the town.

"A lot of hard work and lobbying has gone into this project.

Flintshire County Council leader Aaron Shotton, who also represents the town, said: 'I have been involved in this project for two years.

"It's been a long fight and it's paid off."
