WALES: Goldilocks helps town celebrate 25 years of pantomime.

Byline: By ERYL CRUMP

LLANGOLLEN'S silver anniversary pantomime performance opens on Friday.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears will run for six shows in the Town Hall. Rehearsals for the cast of 36 children and adults have been under way since September.

Show director and co-writer, Pamela Williams from Chirk, said the script was loosely based on the traditional fairytale.

She said: "We've got a Goldilocks character and three bears, but there's also a circus, a mad professor, woodland fairies and a bunch of hippies.

"We've also tried to give the script a local feel with plenty of Llangollen references. It usually makes for a fun night, with plenty of ad lib."

The show's chairman Berwyn Jones, who plays the pantomime dame, Madame Strudel, said: "The pantomime group has changed a lot over 25 years.

"It's great to see youngsters who started with us when they were five or six now taking principal roles."

Goldilocks and the Three Bearson January 4, 5, 11 and 12.

There will be a matinee performance on both Saturdays. Tickets are available locally or on 01978 861132.
