WALES: Dee check after blaze.

ENVIRONMENT Agency experts were last night investigating after a blaze in a wood pile at a skip hire company.

The agency said a fire at the same site last year polluted the Dee, but this time the river was clean.

Forty firefighters fought the blaze on Wrexham Industrial Estate on Friday.

Environment Agency officers advised on managing the water needed to deal with the incident.

Bob Edwards, senior environment officer for the northern area, said: "We worked closely with North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Welsh Water and other water abstractors to ensure drinking water abstractions were not put at risk."
