WALBAR CANADA RECEIVES AIRCRAFT ENGINE COMPONENTS CONTRACT
 VALUED AT APPROXIMATELY $300 MILLION
NEW YORK, April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Walbar Canada, a unit of Coltec Industries Inc. (NYSE: COT), announced today that it has received a contract valued at approximately US$300 million over 10 years from the Allison Gas Turbine Division of General Motors to produce compressor blades for three new turbine engine programs.
The three engine programs are the GMA 2100, an advanced turboprop engine of approximately 6,000 shaft horsepower; the GMA 3007, a turbofan engine with 7,200 pounds of thrust, and the T406 turboshaft engine.
The GMA 2100 has been selected to power the Saab 2000 and the IPTN N-250, both regional aircraft. It also is aimed at the markets for military transports and other high-speed, long-range applications.
The GMA 3007 has been selected to power Cessna's new Citation X Business Jet and the Embraer EMB-145 Regional Jet. The engine is designed for regional jets, business jets and general aviation.
The GMA 2100 and GMA 3007 incorporate the same engine core as Allison's T406 engine, which powers the Bell Boeing V-22 tilt-rotor transport.
Delivery of prototype blades will begin later this year and production hardware is scheduled to begin in 1993 and extend until 2002.
Walbar Canada, based in Mississauga, Ontario, is a leading producer of jet engine components.
Coltec Industries Inc., based in New York, is a manufacturing company with sales of approximately $1.4 billion serving aerospace, automotive and other industrial markets.
