WAL-MART STORES REPORTS NOVEMBER SALES BENTONVILLE, Ark., Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.
(NYSE: WMT; PSE) today reported net sales for the month of November of $4,469,000,000, an increase of 39 percent from sales of $3,222,000,000 in the same period a year earlier.
For the 10 months ending Nov. 30, sales increased 36 percent to $34,717,000,000 from $25,463,000,000 for the same period a year ago. Wal-Mart's net sales include the November results of the McLane subsidiary of $197,000,000, and year-to-date sales of $1,921,000,000. Excluding these sales, net sales would be $4,272,000,000, an increase of 33 percent for the month and $32,796,000,000, an increase of 29 percent for the year. Same store sales increased 13 percent for the month of November and 11 percent for the 10 months ended Nov. 30. Sam's Clubs had sales of $970,000,000, up 42 percent for the month, and $7,494,000,000, up 45 percent for the 10 months ended Nov. 30. Same club sales increased 10 percent for the month and 16 percent for the 10 months. The company had 1,683 Wal-Mart stores (includes six Supercenter stores), 198 Sam's Clubs (one club was closed) and four Hypermart*USA units in operation at Nov. 30, compared with 1,511 Wal-Mart stores (includes five Supercenter stores), 145 Sam's Clubs and four Hypermart*USA units a year ago.
