WAL-MART STORES REPORTS APRIL SALES BENTONVILLE, Ark., May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.
(NYSE: WMT; PSE) today reported net sales for the month of April of $4,111 million, an increase of 26 percent from sales of $3,259 million in the same period a year earlier.
For the three months ending April 30, net sales increased 26 percent to $11,650 million from $9,281 million for the same period a year ago. Same store sales increased 13 percent for the month of April and 12 percent for the three months ended April 30. Sam's Clubs had sales of $890 million, up 28 percent for the month, and $2,602 million, up 31 percent for the three months ended April 30. Same club sales increased 12 percent for the month and 14 percent for the three months. The company operated 1,735 Wal-Mart stores (includes nine Supercenter stores), 215 Sam's Clubs, and four Hypermart*USA units, compared with 1,591 Wal-Mart stores (includes five Supercenter stores), 178 Sam's Clubs, and four Hypermart*USA units a year ago.
