WAL-MART STORES RAISES OVER $8.2 MILLION FOR CHILDREN'S HOSPITALS
 BENTONVILLE, Ark., June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE: WMT) contributed over $8.2 million to this year's Children's Miracle Network Telethon (CMNT), supporting member hospitals for children.
 Wal-Mart officials made the announcement during the telethon televised from Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., May 30 and 31. This year's telethon netted over $106 million for more than 160 member hospitals.
 This was the fifth year the Bentonville, Ark.-based chain has been a sponsor of the international telethon for CMN-member hospitals. And, for the fifth consecutive year, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. was the largest corporate sponsor of the Children's Miracle Network, having raised more than $23 million since 1988. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. associates, over 380,000 nationally, sponsored a variety of fund-raising activities to benefit CMN-member hospitals.
 CMNT, now in its 10th year, is an annually televised fund-raising event which spans 18.5 hours the first weekend after Memorial Day. It is the largest, most successful telethon in the world. One hundred percent of the telethon donations stay in the community to benefit the local participating hospitals, benefiting millions of kids. This nonprofit event is sponsored by the Osmond Foundation.

 Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. is the exclusive retailer/discounter featured on the 1992 national Children's Miracle Network Telethon. The company currently operates 1,740 Wal-Mart stores, 220 SAM'S Clubs, four Wal- Mart's HYPERMART*USA units, and 20 distribution centers in 43 states.
