WAL-MART ISSUES STATEMENT ON PHARMACY ANTI-CONSUMER LAWSUIT

BENTONVILLE, Ark., Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The following statement from Robert K. Rhoads, general counsel, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE: WMT; PSE), regarding the Conway, Ark., pharmacy anti-consumer lawsuit, was released today:
"Wal-Mart is extremely disappointed. We will immediately appeal and clearly expect the Arkansas Supreme Court to overturn this anti-consumer decision. If this decision is allowed to stand, the result will be higher prices -- not just for Wal-Mart customers -- but customers of every retail store, large and small, in Arkansas. It's a sad day when three businessmen, already with very profitable operations, force retail prices higher at the expense of every Arkansas resident."
