WAL-MART, XEROX SIGN AGREEMENT FOR WAL-MART TO CARRY XEROX HOME COPIER

 WAL-MART, XEROX SIGN AGREEMENT
FOR WAL-MART TO CARRY XEROX HOME COPIER
World's largest retailer to offer lowest priced Xerox copier
ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept 3 /PRNewswire/-- Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) has formed a relationship with Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT) of Bentonville, Ark. that enables the retailer to sell the Xerox 5210 Personal Copier, the newest Xerox product and one that is intended to serve the growing market for home copiers.
Wal-Mart will also carry supply items for the 5210.
The personal copier, which was announced today, will be displayed in the consumer electronics section of about 100 Wal-Mart stores that are located near larger metropolitan areas. Wal-Mart will sell the copier for approximately $399, making it the lowest priced Xerox copier on the market.
"Wal-Mart is known for its dedication to customer service and its innovation and excellence in retailing," said James H. Lesko, president of the Personal Document Products Division of Xerox. "We are pleased to have Xerox products represented there."
The 5210 is a compact personal copier that is about the size of a VCR and weighs only 23 pounds. It produces three copies per minute and is recommended for copy volumes of up to 300 copies per month. At this volume, the copier can operate for more than five years before normal, in-shop service is required.
The 5210's moving platen accepts originals up to 8-1/2 by 11 inches. It uses an automatic exposure control that adjusts for light, dark or colored originals. Its paper tray is designed to hold up to 25 sheets of paper, eliminating the need to hand-feed paper when making a copy.
The 5210 uses an easy-to-install dry-ink cartridge that yields up to 2,000 copies. When needed, these cartridges are installed by the user at home in a clean, simple procedure. If the user desires color, dry- ink cartridges are available to make copies in red, blue, green or brown.
The unit is backed by a three-year limited service warranty and by the Xerox Total Satisfaction Guarantee. Under terms of the guarantee, customers decide for themselves whether their equipment is performing to their satisfaction. A customer not satisfied with a product can have it replaced with the same product or a comparable model.
