 WACKENHUT WINS GOVERNMENT CONTRACT FOR SECURITY
 CORAL GABLES, Fla., Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Wackenhut Services,


Inc., a subsidiary of The Wackenhut Corporation (NYSE: WAK), was awarded a contract renewal for security and protective services at the U.S. Department of Energy facility at Rocky Flats, Colo., after a competitive bidding process.
 Timothy P. Cole, president, Wackenhut Services, Inc. (WSI), said that the contract is for a three-year period with two one-year renewal options, and that it begins on Feb. 1, 1993. WSI has provided protective force services to the Rocky Flats Office of the Department of Energy since Sept. 26, 1990.
 The annual revenues of the contract are approximately $50 million for the initial year of the contract, and the Corporation will be eligible for an award fee based on performance evaluation.
 WSI employs over 500 personnel at the facility, under the leadership of Senior Vice President and General Manager, William R. Gillison. Its responsibilities under the contract include the protection of special nuclear material, classified material, government property, personnel, and the health and safety of the public.
 The Wackenhut Corporation is one of the world's largest companies specializing in security and security-related services to business, industrial and government clients. It is the security contractor at several other Department of Energy facilities, over a dozen U.S Department of State Embassy and Mission sites overseas, and two U.S. Department of the Army ammunition plants.
 It was founded in 1954 by George R. Wackenhut, a former Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, who remains today as chairman of the board and chief executive officer. His son, Richard R. Wackenhut, is the president and chief operating officer.
