 WACKENHUT ACQUIRES U.S. SECURITY OPERATIONS
 OF ISS INTERNATIONAL SERVICE SYSTEM
 CORAL GABLES, Fla., Dec. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The Wackenhut Corporation (NYSE: WAK), one of the nation's largest providers of security services, has acquired the U.S. based security operations of ISS International Service System, Inc.
 The ISS security operations affected by the sale are centered in six major cities in the United States, with over 700 employees and annual revenues of $7.5 million.
 The Wackenhut Corporation has offices in over 90 cities in the United States, with contracts to provide security services at airports, nuclear power generating plants, industrial sites, financial institutions, government facilities and major sporting events.
 Richard R. Wackenhut, president and chief operating officer of The Wackenhut Corporation announced the acquisition saying, "Our corporation has doubled in size during the past seven years without making any acquisitions of smaller security companies. However, this purchase points out our intention to move in that direction when an operation is identified that can be readily integrated as a complement to our existing business."
 The Wackenhut Corporation has over 40,000 employees and annual revenues of over $550 million. Its diversified services to business, industrial and government clients include the design, construction and management of jail and prison facilities; electronic monitoring of parolees and persons under house arrest, and institutional food service.
 The corporation was founded in 1954 by George R. Wackenhut, a former special agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, who remains today as the chairman of the board and chief executive officer.
