WACHOVIA OFFERS GEORGIA CONSUMERS $50 FOR NEW CREDIT CARD ACCOUNTS
ATLANTA, May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Wachovia is offering a $50 credit on new Wachovia Prime Plus Visa and MasterCard accounts approved at branch offices in Georgia between June 1 and June 12.
The Prime Plus credit card interest rate, currently 9.4 percent, is the lowest in Georgia.
To make it more convenient for consumers to apply for the credit card, all Wachovia branches will be open on Saturday, June 6, from 9 a.m. to noon. Personal Bankers will be available to assist new customers and existing customers who do not already have a Wachovia credit card. Other in-branch banking services will be available that day only at branches normally open on Saturdays.
"Wachovia is receiving national recognition for having one of the best credit card rates in the country," said David C. Swann, executive vice president and head of Georgia Retail Banking. "This is an excellent opportunity for consumers to benefit from the substantial interest savings provided by the Prime Plus card and to receive a $50 credit after the first use of the card."
Free transfer checks are issued with each new account so consumers easily can move balances from higher-rate credit card and revolving credit accounts, Swann said.
The Prime Plus interest rate is calculated by adding 2.9 percentage points to the prime rate as published in the Wall Street Journal on the 15th day of each month. The card has an annual fee of $39. Wachovia also offers no annual fee and fixed-rate credit card options, all with interest rates below the national average.
Wachovia has 2.2 million cardholders nationwide and $1.6 billion in card outstandings.
