 WACHOVIA COMPTROLLER TO RETIRE
 Winston-Salem, N.C., Jan. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Graham P. Dozier III,


59, will retire January 31 as executive vice president and comptroller of Wachovia Corporation (NYSE: WB). He will be succeeded by Robert S. McCoy, 53, who currently is president of South Carolina National Corporation and chief financial officer and vice chairman of South Carolina National Bank. McCoy will relocate to Winston-Salem from Columbia, S.C.
 "Graham Dozier has worked tirelessly for Wachovia for almost 31 years and has made many contributions to our organization," said Anthony L. Furr, Wachovia's chief financial officer. "He unselfishly extended earlier retirement plans to assist with the SCN merger. e is widely known and highly respected by analysts and the investment community and will be missed greatly. Wachovia is fortunate to have an experienced and talented financial executive like Bob McCoy to assume this important leadership position."
 Dozier came to Wachovia from IBM Corporation in 1961 and held various management positions within the Operations Group, including three years as manager of the Raleigh, N.C., computer center. He helped establish Wachovia's student loan processing subsidiary and in 965 became head of Operations. He has served as comptroller and executive in charge of the Control Group since 1972.
 Dozier is a native of Atlanta and a graduate of Auburn University, the Rutgers University School of Banking and The Executive Program of the Colgate Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia.
 McCoy joined South Carolina National in 1984 with 10 years experience as a partner in the accounting firm of Price Waterhouse in Columbia and in Denver, Colo. He is a native of Traverse City, Mich., and a graduate of Western Michigan University. He is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, American Institute of CPAs and South Carolina Association of CPAs.
 He serves as vice president of the South Carolina Bankers Association and is a member of the Columbia Housing Development Corporation, the South Carolina Legislative Audit Council and the South Carolina Humanities Council. He is a member of the President's National Advisory Council at the University of South Carolina and the advisory board for the College of Commerce and Industry at Clemson University. He is a trustee of the South Carolina Foundation of Independent Colleges and a director of Winthrop College Foundation.
