Vroom.. Welcome to the weekend's Fast Show.

ITALIANS do it better according to Madonna... and there's no arguing with their traffic cops.

While our boys patrol in Skodas and Peugeots, the Carabinieri get the 200mph Ferrari 612 Scaglietti.

One of the highlights of this weekend's Goodwood Festival of Speed, it will be driven by a member of Sussex Police for the day.

Meanwhile, Audi rolled out the big guns last week, giving us a preview of the S5. The sporty coupe costs pounds 40,000 and is capable of 0 to 60 in 5.1 seconds but has a limited 155mph top speed.

Road holding is first class, due to Quattro four-wheel drive and massive 19-inch alloys. Power comes from a fuel injected, 4.2-litre engine.

Vauxhall's new VXR8 is also shaping up to be a monster. The saloon comes with the same 6-litre V8 engine as the outgoing Monaro VXR but tweaking has made it even nippier. It can go from 0 to 60 in 4.9 seconds but comes with a supercar price of pounds 34,995.
