Volleyball players show good form and stamina.

The 7th and last DTS Maerua SUPERSPAR Beach Volleyball tournament this year took place last weekend with 15 4-a-side teams and 25 individual players participating.

In the last tournament, the 2-a-side division is traditionally played in a King/Queen/ Prince of the Beach format where each player teams up with different partners in order to determine the best individual player. 13 Ladies battled out for the Queen of the Beach competition with two German players who play in a high league in Germany taking part. Ulrike Dengler and Sabine Effner from Munich managed to reach the final as well as Brigitte Looser and Swakopmund player Lizette Roettcher. In a very close final match Roettcher managed to win by 1 point against Dengler who finished second. Third place went to Looser.

The King of the Beach competition saw 9 players taking part. The last 4 that played the final were Michael de Koe, Peter Brinkmann, Heiko Diehl and Mwita Sikopo. Sikopo who only managed to qualify through the losers round, proved that he was in top form in the final by winning all 3 games and winning the King of the Beach crown. The second place had to be shared by de Koe and Brinkmann.

The Prince (Youth) competition attracted 13 players. Top players of the day were Gian Rudolph, Helmo Minz, Erik Fischer and Wolfgang Erb. Suprisingly Erik Fischer managed to win all 3 of his matches and showed the favourites how to play the game. Runner up was Gian Rudolph with Helmo Minz in third place.

The 4-a-side social category had 15 teams battling it out for the tournament title. The top 8 teams that qualified for the quarter finals were The Uncardables, Fx Fitness, Cats & Dogs, Paradise Garden, Ice Dogz, Set for Life, Intouch Four and Meatco Sharks. Current leaders The Uncardables dropped out in the quarter finals against Paradise Garden. In the semi-finals Fx Fitness beat the Ice Dogz 2-0 while Cats & Dogs beat Paradise Garden in a thrilling match by 2-1 sets. In the final defending champions Cats & Dogs made sure they defend their title with an impressive 2-0 victory over Fx Fitness. Third place went to Paradise Garden team.
