Voith Paper and Raumaster devise cooperative agreement.
In other Voith news: The company received an order from Vipap Videm, Krsko, Slovenia, to assist in modernizing its raw material supply line. Voith Paper will rebuild seven continuous grinders to TGW technology for Vipap Videm. Chemical pulp production at the mill will cease at the end of the year for environmental reasons. Apart from the necessary new and modified parts,
Voith will also be responsible for the engineering and complete control system as well as erection supervision and startup. Voith Paper will supply all finishing equipment for the new PM 6 at Papresa, Renteria, Spain. Equipment will consist of an online-EcoSoft calender, two VariFlex winders, and a Twister roll wrapping and conveying system The machine will produce newsprint with a base weight from 36 to 62 g/[m.sup.2] and a width of 5.4 mm at an operating speed of 1500 m/min.
Republic Paperboard Co., Lawton, Oklahoma, USA, achieved positive production results with its Board Machine 1, which was supplied by Voith in 1999. Oil June 28, 2003, production exceeded design output when 1007 short toils of gypsum-grade paperboard were produced within 24 hours. The production record is largely due to the production speed of 810 m/min.
Voith said that Soporcel, Portugal, set a new world speed record of 1567 m/min on PM 2 producing fine paper. The record was set on July 6, 2003, with the previous record of 1514 m/min set on the same machine one year earlier. The Voith machine for uncoated, woodfree fine paper started up in July 2000.
