Voice of the Daily Mirror: A tricky business.

NEW Labour enjoys trying to change ancient institutions but it might have a problem with the oldest profession.

Yet something should be done about prostitution. The girls who ply their trade need protection and so do residents in areas which have become red light districts.

The government must be confident that its proposals are not going to make things worse.

But it is right to try to clean up the sex trade - especially for those unfortunate enough to live where it is plied.
