Voice of The Mirror: Heart unit is so vital - just ask Donald.

IT is great news that Donald Dewar is fighting fit after his successful heart operation.

And even better that the First Minister will be back at his desk in just six weeks time.

As well as showing his strength of character, it speaks volumes for the skill and dedication of the the Glasgow Royal Infirmary cardiac staff.

And it makes the decision to close Scotland's only heart transplant unit at that hospital even more infuriating.

The patients in waiting who demanded answers at yesterday's protest meeting deserve better from hospital bosses.

In fact, these ordinary Scots deserve the same standard of treatment afforded a certain high-profile politician.

And you can bet that Donald Dewar would whole-heartedly agree.
