Vodafone unveils Talk and Web Box.

The At Home Talk and Web Box has been unveiled by Vodafone Germany, offering Internet surfing and low-cost phone calls, cable free printing and an answerphone function for teleworkers, freelancers, small enterprises and private individuals.

Vodafone's At Home Talk and Web Box is a plug-and-play solution that enables phone calls to be made while surfing the Internet, with communication via the mobile network, providing an alternative to the fixed network. It connects via UMTS where coverage is available, providing data transfer rates that are up to six times as fast as ISDN - Vodafone provides UMTS network coverage in 1200+ German cities and towns.

According to Vodafone, existing fixed network devices such as PCs, laptops, analogue telephones, printers and answerphones, can be connected to the At Home Talk and Web Box. The box can be located in the most convenient position for the customer and it does not require installation or registration of a conventional fixed network connection.

Vodafone customers with the Per-Minute Package will pay EUR49.94 per month to use the Talk and Web Box, which includes an online volume of 5,000MB or 60 hours and 1,000 free talktime minutes for calls to the fixed network. The box costs EUR99.90 from Vodafone shops and some retail partners and includes a fixed network number with local prefix and can be used with the current fixed network number.
