The IEIBC is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

The scope of the contest has been widened to include entries from students in the neighbouring countries, such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait, said chairman P K Kasinathan.

Anna University is one of the premier technical universities in India holding the status of an affiliating university with almost 270 engineering colleges under its fold based in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.

Service

Dr Jawahar, who has put in 30 years' service in the teaching profession, was earlier the director at the Centre for University Industry Collaboration, at Anna University.

He was instrumental in starting the Tamil Nadu state level placement programme, which benefited 22,000 students from 222 engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu.

Dr Jawahar has written two books in engineering discipline and published several papers in international journals.

The science model contest has been a regular feature of the chapter since 1998 and the exhibits presented in the last few years have won wide acclaim with the engineering community in Bahrain.

The contestants range from classes one to 12 and are divided into three categories - sub junior, junior, and senior.

The chapter has a membership of more than 450 professional engineers.

The main activities of the institution include organising technical seminars, field visits, annual celebration of Engineers Day (15 September) and arranging family get-togethers for the members.
