Vion Pork Processing Plant Damaged by Fire.

February 1 2010 - Fire has caused extensive damage to a sliced cooked meats processing plant owned by Vion Food Group in the UK.

A spokesman for the company told Feedinfo News Service that the fire was discovered at 2.50am in a production area of the Haverhill processing site.

He added: "The fire brigade were called and were able to control the situation very quickly. No one was injured as a result of the incident. Extensive damage was done to that part of the site and plans were immediately implemented to transfer production to another part of the Haverhill site so we can ensure continued supply to customers."

An investigation into the cause of the fire is under way.
