Violence and vice scar city.
Byline: FROM JEREMY ARMSTRONG IN RIO
IT is billed as the Greatest Show on Earth.
But a short walk from the main Olympic arena, girls as young as nine sell their bodies in a city with 12,000 sex workers.
Children can be bought from just PS9 in sickening half-price Games "deals".
Rio has also seen a steep rise in violent crime recently, with 2,000 murders in the first seven months of this year alone. More than 50 police officers have been killed in the brutal drugs wars.
Authorities have 85,000 soldiers and police patrolling streets but that has not stopped several attacks or the underage sex trade.
Tragically, that could be one of the legacies of the Rio Olympic Games.
