Vinyl returns with Euros Childs; PROFILECrackling.

IF YOU were at Green Man Festival last weekend, lingered around the Walled Garden stage between bands and wondered who was playing the quite excellent music, it was a set of DJs under the name Crackling Vinyl.

They are otherwise known as Elin, Adam and Ben. Since November 2011 they have been bringing the best music and most exciting Welsh bands to Telfords Warehouse in Chester.

Since its inception, the night has welcomed sets from artists as great as Y Niwl, Sam Airey, Pulco, Georgia Ruth, Trwbador, Richard James, The Gentle Good and Golden Fable.

The next five Crackling Vinyl nights have been announced beginning with Euros Childs on September 6. In the mid-1990's Childs was the teenage frontman of Peel Show stalwarts Gorky's Zygotic Mynci. His latest album, Summer Special, was released on Monday with which he brought an amazing five-albums-in-three-years creative odyssey full circle. It is a shining example of well-aimed, approachable pop.

Childs explains: "I'm very wary of repeating formulas, and that applies just as much to my experimental solo releases as it has done to the more upbeat stuff. Because I Childs feel I went somewhere new with the last three solo albums, that's enabled me to get excited again about making a more straight-ahead pop record, so that's what Summer Special is."

A line up of Crackling Vinyl nights until December includes Cate Le Bon, Gulp (featuring Guto Pryce of Super Furry Animals) and Paper Aeroplanes.
