GARY Wilson pocketed the latest one-day handicapped title at Whitley Bay SC, defeating Darlington's Vincent West 3-0 in the final.
Wallsend's Wilson had to go the full distance before taking his first match against Morpeth's Gerry McNally 3-2 - McNally having received a 60-points-aframe start.
Wilson's clash against Brandon Hall - who had earlier beaten Elliot Slessor 3-1 - was the best match of the day.
Wilson gave the talented youngster a 20-point start and a lesson in break-building and ball control on his way to a 3-0 success which included breaks of 130 and the highest run of the day - a magnificent 138.
In the other half of the draw, West (off 25) inflicted a 3-1 defeat on Blyth's Andrew Robson.
Making the most of his handicap, West then went on to take out Blyth's 15-year-old Brendan Erridge (off 40) by the same score.
Unfortunately for West Wilson, who was conceding 65 points a frame, was still in the same mood as he had been in the semis - potting everything in sight and winning the decider with breaks of 79, 64 and 55 and numerous runs in the 30s and 40s.
