Village shock as couple attacked in post office raid; Police launch hunt after raiders armed with crowbars strike.

POLICE have launched a massive manhunt after an elderly couple were attacked and robbed in the post office they run in a North East village.

Fred and Rose Voase, who are both in their 60s, were injured by two masked attackers who targeted the Wylam sub-post office in Northumberland early yesterday.

The men, who were armed with a crowbar, escaped with a large amount of cash.

The raid shocked people in the normally quiet village. Parish councillor Brian Japes said Mr and Mrs Voase were a "lovely couple." He added: "There has been immense concern for their welfare since this incident." P7 Full story
