Village post office opens doors again.

VILLAGERS are celebrating after their post office opened its doors again for the first time in 12 months.

Berkswell Post Office, in Church Lane, officially reopened on Thursday.

The new sub-postmistress is Janet Pearson, of Tile Hill, who also reopened the village's shop and tea room last month.

She said: "I think it makes a big difference having a post office for elderly residents who can't get to neighbouring villages or towns.

"I feel it's very important for them. People are very pleased, especially in the climate at the moment.

"I don't think many post offices have been reopening.

"I live locally so I was aware that we had lost a valuable part of the village and basically I thought I would give it a try."

Zoe Hibberd, Post Office Ltd rural transfer advisor, said: "It's great to see the Post Office reopening and I am sure that the people of Berkswell feel the same and will support Janet in her venture."
