Villa steward in fracas dies.

A VILLA Park steward has died in hospital after being attacked following a match.

The 49-year-old man was taken to City Hospital, Birmingham, on September 22 with serious injuries after a fracas following the Aston Villa v QPR game in the Carling Cup.

West Midlands Police said yesterday that the steward, who has not been named, died in hospital on Friday. A post mortem examination will take place tomorrow.

About 40 fans clashed in Witton Lane following Villa's 3-1 win over the London club. The victim was kicked to the ground by an unknown man.
