Vietnam Airlines may purchase additional Airbus aircraft.

Vietnam Airlines is considering purchasing a number of additional aircraft from Airbus SAS, after placing an order with the European aircraft manufacturer.

The airline has recently placed an order for five Airbus A321 narrow-body aircraft, and is now said to be considering plans to purchase a number of Airbus A340 aircraft.

Vietnam Airlines has also placed an order with Boeing Co for two Boeing 767 aircraft, and will lease four Boeing 777s from Boeing.

The firm orders will increase the carrier's fleet to 40 aircraft, reported Reuters.
