VideoServer unveils The Conference Room for Intel ProShare Conferencing Video System 200.
Utilized in conjunction with Intel's industry-leading desktop conferencing systems, the VideoServer Conference Room eliminates two major obstacles to multipoint conferencing -- installation complexity and scheduling administration.
The VideoServer Conference Room for Intel ProShare Systems delivers a permanent electronic conferencing room where desktop systems can "meet" and collaborate via multipoint audio, video and document conferencing. The VideoServer Conference Room is always available for Intel ProShare desktops -- or any H.320/T.120 desktop videoconferencing system -- to access on a first-come, first-served basis.
"The VideoServer Conference Room for Intel ProShare Systems is a first-to-market breakthrough technology that makes the benefits of videoconferencing available to more people," said Jack O'Neil, vice president of marketing at VideoServer. "Today's announcement is the next step in VideoServer's continuing efforts to make conferencing easy for users to operate and resellers to install."
Installation of the VideoServer Conference Room system involves plugging in the VideoServer Multimedia Conference Server (MCS) to an electrical socket and answering four simple questions concerning the user's telephone service and ISDN network configurations. From that point on, when users want to utilize the conferencing system, they just dial a number and join the other conference participants. No other configuration is required and no administrator is needed for scheduling conferences. The Conference Room is always there when you need it.
The Conference Room can be used in conjunction with any popular group meeting scheduler such as Microsoft's Schedule+ and ON Technology's Meeting Maker. By scheduling the Conference Room like any other physical conference room, users can coordinate its use with the other meeting facilities in the enterprise. No other special software is needed. This makes multipoint conferencing an integrated part of the scheduling and resource management of any business.
"This is a milestone in the delivery of multipoint audio, video and data conferences," said Patrick Gelsinger, vice president and general manager of the Internet and Communciations Group with Intel Corporation. "With this announcement VideoServer is delivering a simple and straight forward multimedia conference server for Intel ProShare multipoint conferences."
VideoServer and Intel will demonstrate the VideoServer Conference Room for Intel ProShare Systems at TeleCon XVI, the world's largest conference on videoconferencing and distance learning, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California (October 29-31, 1996). VideoServer is located at booth #448 and Intel is booth #507.
