Viatel to introduce PGA Broadband service.

INTERNET BUSINESS NEWS-(C)1995-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Professional Golfers Association (PGA) Broadband is to be introduced from mid-November, providing golf lovers with a dedicated broadband service, coaching and lessons.

PGA Broadband is to be introduced by Viatel, a company that has provided similar services for Chelsea and Manchester United football clubs and Scottish clubs Hearts, Hibernian and Motherwell. Viatel claimed there is significant demand for specialised broadband services and said it is focusing on sports fans at a time of strong competition between broadband providers.

Viatel is to offer the PGA Broadband service through 4,500 golf clubs in the UK to a potential market of more than 5m golfers. Daily highlights from PGA tournaments will be included in the service, along with lessons and equipment advice, streaming video news and web chats with tour professionals. In addition to exclusive content, PGA Broadband users will also be able to obtain a branded e-mail address.
