Vernier Networks Surpasses 1,000 Network Access Control (NAC) Customers.

Strong Customer Adoption Highlights Market Shift Towards a Network-Based and In-Line Approach to Network Access Control

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Vernier Networks today announced that it has surpassed the 1,000 customer shipment of its award-winning EdgeWall Network Access Control (NAC) solution. Vernier added customers across all market verticals and continues to leverage an extensive customer roster that are now expanding deployments enterprise-wide as NAC becomes a top priority for IT organizations.

"This announcement from Vernier is just another indicator that organizations are deploying intelligent network security solutions," said Eric Ogren, analyst for Enterprise Strategy Group. "Organizations are looking for NAC enforcement appliances that can identify and authorize users, validate that they are in compliance, grant them access to specific resources and continually inspect traffic to ensure policy compliance. Without continuous monitoring and notification that an endpoint has entered an unhealthy state, IT departments are lulled into thinking that everything is ok, when in fact they should be taking active countermeasures to keep the business running."

"Network Access Control is an important security component of our laptop program: preventing unauthorized access to wireless network resources, policy compliance, and the reduction of threats of spyware, worms and viruses introduced by student laptops," said Jack Madderra, Network Manager, Touro University - California an existing Vernier Networks customer.

The strong customer adoption of the Vernier Networks EdgeWall solution is an endorsement of Vernier's approach to Network Access Control. This approach leverages an in-line and network-based solution for NAC to address all stages of the NAC lifecycle. The Vernier solution authenticates, validates and authorizes compliant endpoints, quarantines and remediates infected devices and continuously inspects traffic for policy compliance. The Vernier Networks approach also works seamlessly with existing networks without requiring expensive switch upgrades, hard-to-manage desktop software or third party switches for enforcement.

"With more than five years of experience in shipping NAC solutions, we feel that Vernier Networks is in an excellent position to extend its market leadership," said Simon Khalaf, chief executive officer of Vernier Networks. "We were able to rise above the NAC noise level by delivering a comprehensive and scalable NAC solution that is ready for immediate deployment in the largest and most demanding networks."
