Vermeer Technologies Inc. appoints new chief executive officer: John Mandile, former Sybase executive.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 1995--Vermeer Technologies today announced the appointment of John R. Mandile, 34, as the company's new president and chief executive officer.

Founded in April 1994, privately held Vermeer Technologies Inc. is a pioneer of visual, standards-based Web publishing tools that provide end-users and Internet professionals with the ability to create and maintain compelling Web sites without programming. Vermeer's publishing applications enable a significantly broader range of users to actively participate in the Internet publishing revolution.

As Vermeer's president and chief executive officer, Mandile will be responsible for overseeing company operations, engineering, business development, sales, marketing and channels programs.

Vermeer's co-founder Dr. Charles Ferguson continues to serve as company chairman and will focus on strategic planning and future product definition.

Prior to joining Vermeer, Mandile served as vice president of Systems Management Products with Sybase where he increased business unit revenue from $1 to $50 million in 30 months. Previously, he was vice president of engineering with SQL Solutions, a Sybase subsidiary. His extensive high technology industry experience includes positions as senior software engineer and advanced engineering program member with Honeywell Bull.

Mandile holds an M.S. in computer science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a B.S.E. in engineering science, Magna Cum Laude from Tufts University.
