US mobile network operator Verizon Wireless has announced it has activated a new cell site in Onondaga County, New York.

Verizon Wireless said the new cell site improves coverage and capacity in Nedrow, as well as portions of Routes 80, 11, 11A and I-81.

The company also said it has invested over USD50bn in its US network since it was formed and plans to invest over USD100m in Upstate New York in 2009.

Verizon Wireless is a joint venture between Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ) and Vodafone (NYSE:VOD) (LSE:VOD).
