US mobile network operator Verizon Wireless has announced it has activated a new cell site in Worcester County, Massachusetts.

Verizon Wireless said the new cell site provides increased wireless voice and 3G data coverage along sections of I-190, Route 140, Route 110, Route 12 and Goodale Street in West Boylston, as well as the surrounding areas.

The company also said it has invested USD2.6bn into its New England network since 2000, including USD192m in 2009.

Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ) and Vodafone (Nasdaq:VOD) (LSE:VOD).
