Verizon Making Great Strides in Reaching Commercial Agreements With Wholesale Customers; Company's Wholesale Advantage Offers High-Value Services, Reasonable Rates and Market Stability.

NEW YORK, March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Communications announced today that Verizon has been extremely successful in reaching agreements with wholesale customers for Verizon's commercial offerings of wholesale services to replace existing arrangements, known as unbundled network element platforms (UNE-Ps). The Federal Communications Commission recently ordered the telecommunications industry to phase out UNE-Ps.

"As of March 10, 2005, more than 20 carriers have signed up for our Wholesale Advantage commercial offering nationwide," said Virginia Ruesterholz, Verizon's president for wholesale markets. "In addition, more than 30 carriers have signed up for our interim commercial offering.

"Our interim offering is designed to bridge those carriers over immediate regulatory changes while they negotiate their own long-term agreements. In addition, a number of long term commercial agreements are currently out for signature.

"We are extremely pleased with the progress to date," Ruesterholz said. "It reconfirms our faith in the ability of companies pursuing commercial agreements to meet the needs of a highly competitive telecommunications marketplace on a business to business basis."
