Verbatim announces release of new CD-ReWritable disc.

Verbatim Corporation has announced the release of its newest addition to the DataLifePlus family--a 680-MB CD-ReWritable (CD-RW) disc, which the company calls a convenient, cost-effective media for storing and editing desktop data.

"Verbatim's new CD-RW is an excellent solution for storing and on-the-fly editing of image files, audio-recording samples, and multimedia presentations," said Jim Riggs, Verbatim manager of optical product marketing.

According to Riggs, the Verbatim CD-RW disc may be recorded and rewritten over more than 1,000 cycles, which makes it a good choice for system backups and online editing. The discs are compatible with all drives that conform to the Orange Book, Pan III Standard, such as those recently introduced by Hewlett-Packard, Philips, and Ricoh. CD-RW discs are also compatible with DVD-read-only and DVD-writable drives. Verbatim CD-RW discs have an archival life of more than 30 years, feature proprietary scratch-resistant coatings, and are backed by Verbatim's lifetime warranty.
