Ex-labour Party members and voters like myself can now rest assured they made the right decision in leaving and stopping supporting Labour. Seeing the brain dead sheep of Tony Blair at the Labour Party Conference shows that he has mastered the art of faking sincerity. The hope of getting socialism or even anything like it is now dead. The mood of new saviour Gordon Brown made a speech recently about his huge surplus and never even mentioned the pensioners let alone provide a decent pension from it.

REGARDING: my recent light-hearted letter on women drivers and 4x4s. I reserve the right for my own personal view of them being some kind of status symbol rather than a means of travel from A to B. Thank you Philip Hatfield for your comments which made me smile, I think you have got my point nicely. R Lewis on the other hand appears slightly needled. I meant no offence. To wind up my bit of fun let me dig an even bigger hole for myself by saying I think men are the better drivers particularly when it comes to the 4x4s, and no I am not a sexist male, I am female in my 40s and a good driver of my sensible little Corsa.

I AM pleased to see someone else has picked up on Newcastle Council and Nexus not bringing transport to Throckley. Throckley is in Newcastle. When will Nexus recognise this and give us a proper good service and a proper link into Newcastle. We pay taxes the same as anywhere else, why should we always have to suffer?

ML, Throckley.

I'VE just been reading about children being dropped off at school and the congestion it causes. Classes in school could be staggered by 10 minutes for starting in the morning so there would be a steady stream for about an hour, which wouldn't make it too congested. The advantages for the kids is they are allowed out of school over an hour so it would be a benefit to a lot of people and maybe handier for parents. Stagger the starting time for each classes - dead easy.
