Venafi Extends Digital Certificate Management to Support VeriSign Unified Authentication.

DRAPER, Utah -- Expansion of Current Agreement Enables VeriSign Customers to Easily Manage Certificates on All Platforms

Venafi Corp., a pioneer in digital certificate management solutions, today announced it is partnering with VeriSign Inc. to enable management of VeriSign Unified Authentication user certificates. This represents an expansion of the companies' current agreement that offers Venafi digital certificate management products for VeriSign SSL server certificates.

Venafi provides digital certificate management solutions that enable Fortune 1000 companies and government institutions to expand e-business operations, prevent downtime, reduce costs and improve regulatory compliance. Venafi's AutoCert Manager strategically manages the complete lifecycle for digital certificates across diverse IT infrastructures, increasing security and improving organizational responsiveness. The company also announced the availability of AutoCert Manager in a separate release issued today.

The partnership assures interoperability between the companies' solutions and enables VeriSign customers to extend the management of digital certificates to all of their platforms and certificates. The two companies are also offering preferential pricing for AutoCert Manager to VeriSign customers through April 2005. VeriSign Unified Authentication provides a single, integrated platform for provisioning and managing all types of two-factor authentication credentials and reduces the cost of deployment by leveraging an enterprise's existing infrastructure.

"VeriSign Unified Authentication allows enterprises to deploy a cost-effective and flexible strong authentication solution that truly opens their networks to partners, suppliers and customers. By using the solution, their networks are protected from unauthorized access, mitigating the effects of identity theft and other malicious security events for their customers," said Judy Lin, executive vice president and general manager, VeriSign Security Services. "By partnering with Venafi, our customers will be able to easily discover, manage and automate the digital certificate process, leaving organizations free to focus on running and expanding their business."

Many companies in the financial services, healthcare, insurance and other industries rely on VeriSign certificates and security services to secure their critical information and services. New threats and attacks such as phishing exploits are forcing organizations to seek a variety of methods to ensure their customers' information is safe. Venafi enables these organizations to secure and automate the management of these security services from VeriSign and other vendors.

"VeriSign's talent of enabling organizations to expand e-business initiatives to improve productivity dovetails nicely with Venafi's goal to pave the way for further secure e-business expansion by increasing the ease with which thousands of digital certificates are deployed and managed," said Paul Turner, vice president of marketing for Venafi. "By providing a way to comprehensively manage the multitude of digital certificates found 'under the hood' in many e-business applications, Venafi is enabling VeriSign customers to expand and roll out initiatives that rely on these secure connections."
