Van is safe haven for prostitutes.

A SPECIALLY equipped van is providing a support service to prostitutes as part of an outreach program.

The vehicle is the fifth of its kind to be launched by Ruhama which supports women in Dublin's red-light district.

The vehicle is kitted out with facilities to give women working on the streets a hot drink, a safe place to sit and a chance to talk.

Ruhama chief Sarah Benson said they could be dealing with issues including addiction, homelessness, debt, poor health and violence.

She added: "For others, the van is simply a safe place to get away from the streets temporarily and meet a friendly face."
