LIBERTYVILLE, Ill., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ --

Valent BioSciences Corporation today announced it has licensed DeVine(R) biological herbicide to Encore Technologies of Minneapolis, Minn. The licensing agreement gives Encore exclusive rights to manufacture and market DeVine herbicide, which controls milkweed vine, or strangler vine, in citrus crops.

"DeVine herbicide has an excellent reputation for performance among Florida citrus growers, and we look forward to offering the product this season and in the future to these customers," says David Goulet, president of Encore.

DeVine was the first biological herbicide registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. It is produced through a fermentation process.

"Encore's expertise in fermentation and its ability to focus on key market segments make this licensing agreement a natural fit," says Mike Donaldson, president of Valent BioSciences.
