VT and BA select Linde tractors.

VT Airside Solutions is taking delivery of 127 Linde tow tractors for the BA ground fleet services operation at Heathrow's new Terminal 5 (T5). The tractors-for towing baggage trains - are an enhanced version of the Linde P250 LWB (long wheel base) model. The technical specification was developed jointly with VT Airside Solutions to meet the BA operational requirement in terms of speed, longevity and gradient ability. The traction battery system and drive line assembly have both been upgraded.

BA's Operational Engagement (turnaround) times at T5 could only be met by vehicles with the new specification, as the sheer size of the facility means extended distances between the aircraft stands and the main baggage hall. The tow tractors will also have to cope with 5.3-degree gradients on the site. The deal includes service and support for the new equipment.
