Why Was Volvo 850 Selected as the
RJC Import Car of the Year?
"Volvo's straightforward and aggressive approach to safety and environmental problems, and its sophisticated way of manifestation in the product, is highly scored. This applies not only to the car but also to Volvo's corporate attitude.
"Volvo 850 is the first front-wheel-drive car produced by Volvo Sweden but it has a very high level of completion, together with a very good quality supported by an uncompromisable way of building-up in every respect. And also Volvo was successful in the world's first layout of having a 5-cylinder engine transversely mounted. This is the reason why we selected Volvo 850 as the RJC Import Car of the Year '92-'93." -- RJC.
Hans-Olov Olsson, president of Volvo Cars Japan, said:
"We are very proud and happy to receive this award. Certainly this will boost our spirit further. We thank Volvo Cars Sweden for producing such excellent cars like the Volvo 850. To receive this recognition in the very competitive and advanced car market as Japan is very encouraging to all Volvo customers and employees."
The award ceremony is taking place on Feb. 23 and RJC will hand out the trophy to Mr. Olsson.
